If you’re new to liquidation, one of the first questions you might have is:
What‘s inside a liquidation pallet?

It’s a fair question and one that deserves a straightforward answer.
Liquidation pallets are typically made up of excess inventory, shelf pulls, customer returns, or discontinued products from major retailers. But what that means in practice can vary depending on what type of pallet you’re buying and where it’s coming from.
Here’s a General Overview by Category
- Clothing: Mostly shelf pulls and returns. Expect mixed sizes, seasons, and brands. Often unmanifested.
- Electronics: Customer returns or refurbished items. Includes small gadgets, headphones, tablets, and sometimes larger items like TVs or tools.
- Cosmetics: Overstock and shelf pulls. Usually sealed, but always check product condition notes.
- Household Goods: Wide mix small kitchen appliances, home décor, cleaning tools, and seasonal items.
- General Merchandise: Catch-all pallets with a little of everything. Great for bin stores or flea markets.
Condition: It’s Not Always Black and White
Most pallets fall into one of these condition categories:
- New or Shelf Pulls: Never sold, but pulled from shelves due to packaging changes, seasonality, or store closures.
- Customer Returns: May be fully functional, lightly used, or defective. Always a mix.
- Salvage: Heavily damaged or incomplete. Higher risk, lower price best for experienced resellers only.
Are Pallets Manifested?
Sometimes. A manifested pallet includes an itemized list of what’s inside, with estimated retail values. These are useful if you’re targeting specific inventory types or margins.
Unmanifested pallets are more of a mystery lower upfront cost, but higher risk.
